Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 November 2026

Eekou was called Quakou until version 0.33. Only the name has changed: this policy, and what the program does with your information, are the same.

Eekou is an email program that runs on your own computer. This policy explains what Eekou does with your information. In short: your mail stays on your computer, it never passes through any Eekou server, and nobody at Eekou can read your mail.

What Eekou keeps, and where

Eekou does not send any of this to Eekou or to anyone else. There is no Eekou account and no Eekou cloud, and no Eekou server receives your mail, contacts, calendars, passwords or sign-in tokens.

Who Eekou connects to

Google user data

When you add a Gmail or Google Workspace account with "Sign in with Google", Eekou asks for access to your Gmail (https://mail.google.com/) and for your email address. Eekou uses this access only to show you your mail, to send the mail you write, and to carry out what you ask (for example moving, flagging or deleting messages, or clearing out mail you choose in Clean-Up) in your own mailbox.

Eekou's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Microsoft accounts

When you add an Outlook.com, Hotmail or Microsoft 365 account with "Sign in with Microsoft", Eekou asks for permission to read and send your mail through IMAP and SMTP, for your basic profile (name and email address), and, through Microsoft Graph, for permission to read and update your mail (Mail.ReadWrite: to show how Microsoft sorts your inbox into Focused and Other, and to keep categories alike) and your mailbox settings (MailboxSettings.ReadWrite: to keep your choice when you move all mail from a sender to Focused or Other, as Outlook does). As with Google, this access is used only for what you see and choose in Eekou, from your computer; nothing is sent to Eekou.

Yahoo and AOL accounts

When you add a Yahoo Mail or AOL Mail account with "Sign in with Yahoo", Eekou asks Yahoo for permission to read and send your mail through IMAP and SMTP, and for your basic profile (name and email address). You can also add these accounts with an app password you create in your Yahoo or AOL account settings; it is kept encrypted on your computer like any other password.

Removing your data

Children

Eekou is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
